Omega Geneve - Shantung Dial
Shantung Dial | Manual | Ref. 135.070 | Circa 1970
A beautifully understated vintage Omega with a dial that truly sets it apart. This Genève features the sought-after Shantung textured finish - a subtle cross-hatch pattern that catches the light differently throughout the day and gives the watch far more presence than its classic proportions suggest.
At 34.5mm (approx. 37mm including crown), it wears exactly as a refined 1970s dress piece should - slim, elegant and effortlessly versatile.
The Movement
Inside sits the manual wind Omega Calibre 601, a robust and well-regarded movement from the period. This example has recently undergone a full service and is running strongly, performing very well for a watch of this age.
Condition & Details
The original dial presents beautifully, with no obvious marks visible to the naked eye - a rare thing for a textured finish of this era.
The gold-plated case shows honest signs of age, including light surface wear and minor marks consistent with careful use over five decades. Nothing distracting on the wrist, simply the kind of patina you’d expect from a genuine vintage piece.
It retains its original crown, functioning smoothly as it should.
The acrylic crystal is flawless.
The case back remains in strong condition, with the covering film still in place. There is light tool marks from previous servicing - a reassuring sign of maintenance rather than neglect.
It is fitted to a brand new leather strap which pairs perfectly with the warm tone of the case.
Approaching 55 years old, this is a charming and wearable example of classic Omega design - ready for its next chapter.
